Traditionally hand-loomed and knotted by master weavers in small family ateliers in the cotton-growing regions of southern Turkey, our heritage design Peshtemals are endlessly versatile. A world away from mass-produced hammam towels, these hard-working heros can also be put to use as throws, blankets, scarves, table linen, beach cover-ups, sarongs, baby blankets. They also look pretty amazing just rolled up or draped in a basket!
Ethically made using Oeko-Tex and GOTS Organic certified cotton which has been cultivated, spun, dyed and woven locally to the ateliers, when you purchase one of our hand-woven peshtemals you’re not only investing in an item of exceptional quality and design which will last for years, you’re also supporting multiple small businesses in the communities they’re made in, and helping to preserve this centuries old traditional craft in the face of cheap imports.
